We are connected and contemporary, creating life-changing, life-shaping experiences that provide the foundation on which to build careers and lives for our students.

The University of Tasmania, through teaching, research and its operations provides opportunities for thinking and action to address the urgent problems of sustainability including climate change and biodiversity. The University equips students with the knowledge, skills and insights to make a positive contribution to local and global communities, and build on existing research in support of sustainability.
The University of Tasmania provides a pathway to learning for secondary students. The Sustainability Trails introduce students to the campus and the range of research opportunities being undertaken in different faculties.

UTAS Climate Change Trail

UTAS Climate Change Trail

Welcome to the Climate Change Trail at the University of Tasmania.
Climate change is caused by rising carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere, which acts like a blanket, increasing the temperature of the earth. (Tom Dunbabin, Trail Blazer, Huntchins)
The Climate Change Trail was developed by the Trail Blazers – a group of students from Hutchins and Corpus Christi schools to help visitors to the University better understand how the University is involved in climate change research.
The trail also helps visiting school students to become more familiar with the campus of their University

The trail is a treasure hunt. It is fun. You will be asked to find hidden clues and you will hear from climate change researchers. We hope that it helps you to get to know the University and learn more about climate change.
The trail begins outside Lazenby’s cafe below the Stanley Burbury Theatre.
